A Bit About Me
Makenna Hagerman
I have been playing the piano since 2008 and teaching since 2022. I have completed my Royal Conservatory of Music Level 8 practical piano exam as well as my theory exam where I scored the top mark in Alberta. I graduated from Ambrose University in 2023 where I studied music and piano, as well as behavioural sciences. I enjoy playing both classical pieces and modern pop songs in my free time.
​Outside of music, I enjoy painting, crafting, and travelling. I am excited to share my joy for music with my students!
What Lessons Look Like
I provide lessons at my home studio to students aged 5 to adult, in Airdrie, Alberta. I love to inspire interest in piano by choosing songs that are exciting to the students, as long as they are at the appropriate level for the student. This could include pop songs, movie songs, and more! I also use stickers as a reward system for students successfully completing and mastering pieces and prizes for practicing. In lessons, no matter the level, I like to incorporate technical aspects, such as scales and theory, as well as the pieces they are learning. This will give students a well-rounded understanding of music and the pieces they are playing, and also help them advance at a steady pace.
